C E Marking
Understanding CE Marking & what will it mean for your business
CE Marking – What is it?
CE Marking allows fabricators to provide a certificate of compliance with harmonised European standards and is recognised throughout the EEA.
When is CE Marking being introduced?
CE Marking has been around for some time in the wider production industry but it is only from February 2010 that it becomes a requirement for all window and door fabricators in the UK who export to the EU.
What are the requirements for fabricators?
Factory Production Control – Every fabricator in the UK will be required to have in place documented production procedures, policies and provide CE Marking approval on all window and doors fabricated from February 2009.
The Fabricator will also be responsible for ensuring each factory operative is fully trained in the fabrication of each product in accordance with the Systems Company’s guidelines.
If your company currently holds EN ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems audited by a UKAS accredited agency then you will already be compliant. If your company does not hold this standard now is the time to act.
Initial Type Testing – Is undertaken by Smart’s with independent testing bodies such as the BSI & CWCT. Fabricators will be required to provide relevant test reports for each system.
To facilitate this full test reports are made available online at www.smartsystems.co.uk
How can Smart's support their customers with CE Marking?
Obtaining and providing CE Marking on windows and doors with the assistance and support of Smart’s FPC templates, labelling program and ITT documents will be a straightforward process for the majority of fabricators.
